This course discusses historical evolution of modern protective services, and describes proven methods for enhancing motivation. It also defines techniques and procedures for accomplishing many basic protection officer tasks. This course is presented in two semesters.
Semester 1 describes the history of the profession and appropriate actions for training, assessing performance, rewarding and correcting professional behavior, and building trust.
Semester 2 defines various protection and security terms, laws, and regulations. It describes basic alarm systems, important computer security issues, potential threats, and recommended technological procedures. It also discusses protection of information, including legal steps, physical security, and confidentiality agreements, and describes methods for accomplishment of basic protection officer tasks including crowd, traffic, and access control, observation skills, and effective report writing.
