Alternative Options to Reduce Truancy and Dropout Rates

Across the United States various organizations, educators, and government agencies are taking a multifaceted approach to stemming the tide of the truancy and dropout epidemics affecting our youth of today.

One such option is provided by a Boys and Girls Club in California.  According to CBS Los Angeles, this nonprofit organization has partnered with a local charter school to offer classes at its teen center that will count towards graduation requirements.  This type of program is ideal for struggling students because they receive more individual attention from adults they feel comfortable with.  For students who have not been successful in a traditional school setting this alternative approach is the key to helping them earn a high school diploma.
